Eli Bornstein completed this work just prior to starting to make Structurist reliefs in 1957. It reflects the influence of Cézanne and of the Modernism in general that impressed him so much when he met Moholy-Nagy at the School of Design in 1943, during a class trip from the Milwaukee Teacher’s College.
