Mind maps of discover
A selection has been made of Barabási’s personal notes, summaries and mind maps, which he used to explore and represent problems. The notes and sketches use a variety of media (drawings, photographs, digital prints), and aim at condensing or summarizing information.
Their “registers” also run a wide gamut, as personal notes alternate with formulae and drawings, excerpts from emails and printed images. Like so many abstracts or graphic facilitators, they provide précis of the problems’ solutions, while they also allow insights into the creative process of problem solving. They reveal the logic of thinking, and visualize the structure of the problems.
While the sketches essentially impress with their number, each plan has its interest: looking through the items is like taking a virtual trip inside the mind of the creator, browsing among his ideas. At the same time, each item represents a separate story, as it documents a specific research project: each is dated, which helps to reconstruct the development of a project, the elaboration and realization of ideas.
