MIOCENE FAUNA

Aviafauna of the Miocene

Birds have been already widespread during the Miocene, although their fossils show up rarely. It can be explained by their fragile bones, or by the fact that some predators eattheir prey in whole. Fossils of birds were found in Mátraszőlős, Rudabánya, Polgárdi, Csákvár and Sümeg, which were mostly waterside birds.
