1912: Floating continents
Alfred Wegener's Entstehung der Kontinente Und Ozeane (The Origins of Continents and Oceans) was published in which he described the theory of the movement of continents. Unfortunately, geologists did not take it seriously for a long time, as Wegener was "just a meteorologist".
