The feast of Purim falls on the month of Adar, in the spring. It is customary to place a decoration called Adar poster on the wall and recall the Talmudic saying: “Mishenichnas Adar Marbim B’Simcha”: “When the month of Adar arrives we should increase our joy”. Since the fish is the zodiac sign of Adar, which is linked in Jewish tradition with abundance, reproduction, and fertility, the fish motif is a dominant element in the decoration of the Adar posters.
