Megillah case and scroll

There is an interesting inscription on the small shield carved in the middle of the case: it says the name of the owner, in Hebrew letters, Israel?, and in Latin letters, the monogram of J.D. It is unusual that the year indicated as the age of the object is written according to the Jewish calendar but with Arabic numerals instead of Hebrew letters, which have numerical value. The inscription on the object says 5619, which means, it was in 1859 according to the civil calendar when J.D. carved his monogram on the object.
