Seal of the Chevra Kadisha: In Jewish communities, voluntary charity and charitable donations, i.e. tzedakah, are a fundamental value. In the pre-emancipation era, in legally disadvantaged communities, various charity associations provided care for the poor, socially disadvantaged members of Jewish communities. The inscription on the seal of the Chevra Kadisha in Nagykanizsa says: “Righteousness delivers from death.” (Proverbs 10:2)
