A large part of the items in our collection were donations by families and Jewish communities; thus we have knowledge about their original whereabouts and use. The rest is rescued objects from synagogues destroyed in the Shoah, collected after 1945. In 1964 the original inventories were destroyed, therefore establishing the origin of these artifacts today requires significant research.
